Consent decision-making

Also: consent-based decision-makingЧитать на русском

A decision rule under which a proposal is adopted when no member of the group has a reasoned objection that it would harm the group's ability to pursue its aim.

In more detail

Consent differs from consensus: members do not need to agree with or prefer a proposal, only to judge it 'good enough for now and safe enough to try'. Objections must be argued and are used to improve the proposal rather than simply to block it. The rule is central to sociocracy and its derivatives such as Holacracy and Sociocracy 3.0. Critics note that social pressure can discourage objections and that facilitators gain power by deciding which objections are valid.
