Privacy

What data Polity Atlas collects, why, and how long it keeps it.

Privacy

Operator: [legal entity name], [address]. Contact: [[email protected]].

Reading without an account

You can read everything public without an account. We set only the cookies needed for security (a CSRF cookie) and, if you sign in, a session cookie.

Searches and "Ask the Atlas" questions are logged without your account or IP address — only the query text, language and number of results — so we can see what readers look for and where the atlas has gaps.

With an account

If you register, we store your username, email address, password hash and display name, plus what you choose to save: collections, followed entries, Lab projects, disputes and submissions.

Staff actions

Editorial and administrative actions are recorded in an audit log, including the staff member and IP address, to keep the research record accountable.

Third parties

When AI-assisted answers are enabled, the text of an "Ask the Atlas" question and the relevant published claims are sent to our AI provider to compose the answer. No account data is sent.

Your rights

You can ask us to export or delete your account data at [[email protected]]. Retention periods: [retention policy].
