Rochdale principles

Also: co-operative principlesЧитать на русском

Rules of co-operative practice associated with the Rochdale Pioneers of 1844, adopted by the International Co-operative Alliance in 1937 and revised in 1966 and 1995 into seven co-operative principles.

In more detail

The 1995 principles are voluntary and open membership; democratic member control (one member, one vote in primary co-operatives); member economic participation; autonomy and independence; education, training and information; co-operation among co-operatives; and concern for community. Surpluses may be returned to members in proportion to their transactions, the dividend associated with Rochdale. Lists of the 'original' principles differ between sources and periods.
