“A survey of presidential term-limit evasion since 2000, covering 234 incumbents in 106 countries, found that roughly a third of incumbents reaching the end of their term tried to stay on, almost always by formally legal means, and that most failed attempts were stopped by popular resistance rather than by courts.”
