■
Established
Chesterton and Belloc developed distributism in the early 20th century; Belloc's The Servile State (1912) is the closest thing to an originating manifesto, and a Distributist League existed in the UK from 1926.
▲
Disputed
Black argues that Rerum Novarum, though often cited as distributism's foundation, contains no limit on enterprise size and no large-scale redistribution of wealth, and locates distributism's matrix in English Christian socialist and Anglican social theology.
■
Established
Stikkers describes Mondragon as founded on Catholic social justice teaching, with Father Arizmendiarrieta drawing mainly on Rerum Novarum; he does not present it as an implementation of distributism.
