DisputedA meta-analysis of 483 estimates from 84 studies (Doucouliagos and Ulubaşoğlu 2008) concludes that democracy has no direct effect on growth but robust, positive indirect effects through higher human capital, lower inflation, lower political instability and greater economic freedom.
