“In August 2017 the Alaska Supreme Court unanimously upheld Governor Walker's 2016 veto of about half of the transfer to the dividend fund, holding that the Permanent Fund amendment does not dedicate fund income to dividends, which must compete for annual appropriations like other programmes.”

Context. The 2016 dividend fell to $1,022 instead of an expected $2,052; since then the amount has been set in each budget.
