“Accounts of the 2010 origin differ. A 2015 academic study says Better Reykjavík grew out of the earlier Shadow City site (over 1,300 participants in the Best Party's section) and was built after the 29 May 2010 election. The founders describe a launch a week before the election and over 40,000 participants.”
Context. The two sources give different launch chronology and participation figures; the 40,000 figure is the founders' own and is not corroborated in the study.
